In this project, I photographed my parents' hometown, Dainan Town in Jiangsu Province, by repeatedly following the same route to create an artificial sense of connection.
In Chinese culture, "family" and "hometown" are deeply linked to identity and belonging.
However, I have struggled with these concepts. Though my parents call Jiangsu my hometown, my experiences there, especially during the Spring Festival, left me feeling like an outsider. Despite my familial ties, I lacked a true sense of belonging.
Through these photographs, invite viewers to reflect on their own connections to their hometowns. The repetition of images aims to evoke emotions tied to identity and belonging, fostering introspection.
